This cd is a waste of TIME,but no not because its rubbish,if you ve never heard TWIST before then this is a good intro for you,but because four months into the year 2000,TWIST are still having to promote songs that were mostly written over a year ago ,before the hard work, constant gigging, and the learning curve that goes with it.

Wouldn,t it have made a lot of sense for them to be promoting new material,ie a single or ep release, building on the foundations they ve laid instead of having to reluctantly push a greatest hits package thats made up of songs that probably wouldnt make their current set list.  Record companies,huh..............

Anyway, moans over, the music is, for the uninitiated,a grungy noisy nirvana-esque cauldron of teenage rampage ,loud guitars , throaty vocals,angry/self pitying lyrics, straining  and fighting for its own identity, at times like HOLDEN CAULFIELD psychotically wandering through the bars of New York, but  at others   more like Kevin the teenager screaming at his parents(I hate youuuuuuuuuu) .Stand out songs are Lay Low,Glistening and Shari Says ,low point the sub- Kurt Good is girl , they really should concentrate on the PJ Harvey moments that crop up from time to time and make more of them, now that would be a sound worth hearing.

As anyone who 's seen them live recently will know, they re much   better than this cd, I hope the next single shuts some people up,they deserve a chance to develop.
