GORGEOUS: THE OLD RAILWAY

I love post apocalyptic, post nuclear ,urban wasteland type scenarios me,all those great films from the sixties and seventies when the threat of a large mushroom cloud appearing over Balsall Heath was hanging over us ,terrifying small children, creating deformities, big rats,queues for bread ,and a time when CND seemed like a political force to be reckoned with.

Gorgeous with their new brass section ,dual vocals,raps and insane brand of genius are a soundtrack for the Mike Leigh remake."Nuclear winter in stoke",I d call it .

The songs are the work of worryingly twisted minds and Pete plays his guitar with the arrogance of a GIANFRANCO ZOLA (ever heard him play?),Elaine has a great voice and the presence of Julie Walters and the rhythm section is painfully attack orientated.

My favourite gigs end with the teenager next to you saying ,"what the fuck was that all about" ,"quality" dear boy........
